Hugging Face

Hugging Face is the company behind the Hugging Face Hub, an open platform where the AI community publishes, discovers and downloads models, datasets and applications. Its stated mission is to democratize good machine learning, one commit at a time. The company develops widely used open-source libraries including Transformers, Datasets, Diffusers and Accelerate, and publishes the Hugging Face Blog and Daily Papers. On September 3, 2026, NVIDIA announced that it had agreed to acquire Hugging Face for $12,930,300,000, according to NVIDIA's official blog. NVIDIA stated that Hugging Face will remain an open platform for the entire AI ecosystem: developers will continue to choose the models they want, the frameworks they want, and the clouds and inference service providers they want. Hugging Face will continue to support open source and open-weight models from across the ecosystem, and will continue to support multi-cloud and multi-accelerator development and deployment. NVIDIA also stated that it is the largest contributor of open models and data to Hugging Face, having released more than 500 models and more than 250 open datasets on the platform. Robotics: Hugging Face is the organization behind LeRobot, an open-source robotics project hosted in the huggingface GitHub organization at github.com/huggingface/lerobot and documented at huggingface.co/docs/lerobot. LeRobot provides datasets, pretrained models and tooling for end-to-end robot learning, and is the main open-source bridge between the Hugging Face Hub and the embodied AI ecosystem. Scope note: Hugging Face does not develop robot hardware or embodied AI foundation models of its own. Its role in embodied AI is as the platform and open-source organization whose Hub hosts public models and datasets, and whose LeRobot project provides robot-learning tooling.
