Apptronik Apollo 2

RobotActive

Apollo 2 is Apptronik's second-generation full-size humanoid robot, with its own official product page on Apptronik's website, distinct from the first-generation Apollo. It was highlighted by Google DeepMind on July 30, 2026 as the primary demonstration embodiment for Gemini Robotics 2. Human-centered design: Apollo 2 is designed to communicate clearly with people around it — an expressive LED mouth, coordinated lighting, speech and listening capabilities make interactions feel more natural, and a built-in chest display provides at-a-glance information like robot status, battery level, charging state, and task progress. Actuation: Apollo 2 uses Apptronik's patented actuator technology for powerful, efficient, and precise motion across the body, designed for 90%+ energy efficiency, simple maintainability, mass manufacturability, and supply chain resiliency. Ecosystem: in Google DeepMind's Gemini Robotics 2 announcement, Apollo 2 performs whole-body tasks (walk, reach, place a watering can into a bin on a bottom shelf) under natural-language instructions, and demonstrates dexterous manipulation with a five-fingered 22-DoF SharpaWave hand (tying knots, sealing ziplock bags). Gemini Robotics ER 2 also demonstrated multi-robot collaboration with Apollo 2 working together with a Franka F3 Duo.
