Pollen Robotics

Pollen Robotics is a robotics company based in Bordeaux, France, founded in 2016 by two former developmental robotics researchers from Inria's Flowers team. The founders previously created Poppy, a pioneering open-source 3D-printed humanoid robot. The company builds open-source, expressive robots for AI builders, makers, and researchers. Pollen launched its flagship Reachy humanoid platform at CES 2020 and reports around 100 Reachy robots in use across about 20 countries. It introduced VR teleoperation at CES 2021, placed second in the ANA Avatar XPRIZE in 2022, secured a EUR 2.4 million seed round in April 2023, and released the Reachy 2 research platform in 2024. The product family also includes Reachy Mini, an expressive companion robot for human interaction and AI experimentation. In April 2025, the Pollen Robotics team joined Hugging Face, becoming the Bordeaux-based robotics team at Hugging Face. The company website is co-branded "Pollen Robotics x Hugging Face" with the footer "Part of Hugging Face", and its GitHub and Hugging Face organizations host its open-source software stacks. In August 2026, Pollen Robotics opened pre-orders for Microduck, a US$399 open-source biped robot that moves using reinforcement-learning policies, extending the company's line beyond its research-grade Reachy platforms toward low-cost, learnable robots.
