Tiangong Ultra

Tiangong Ultra is a track-and-field-oriented humanoid robot in the Tiangong family, developed by Beijing Humanoid Robot Innovation Center. According to the center, it was designed specifically for track and field events, including sprinting, middle- and long-distance running, relay races, and jumping competitions ranging from 100 meters to 1,500 meters. At the 2nd World Humanoid Robot Games (Beijing, August 2026), Tiangong Ultra set a 100m sprint record of 8.86 seconds in the large-size 100m semifinal on August 25, breaking its previous record of 9.39 seconds set during the opening ceremony. The previous men's 100m world record was 9.58 seconds (Usain Bolt, 2009). For this year's racing events, the center upgraded the robot's joints, lightened its structure, and streamlined its design, while optimizing motion control and navigation algorithms, including a move from track-line following to map-based positioning.
