Weilan Tech
CompanyactiveWeilan Tech (南京蔚蓝智能科技有限公司), founded in 2019 by Liu Weichao in Nanjing, China, is a consumer robotics company specializing in quadruped robots for family and personal use. The company is known for its Alpha Dog (阿尔法机器狗) and BabyAlpha product lines, which together have sold over 25,000 units — making Weilan the global leader in consumer quadruped robot sales. Weilan's products are distinguished by a fully self-stacked approach spanning mechanical design, electronics, actuators, software, algorithms, and AI operating system. The company built China's first quadruped robot mass-production factory (2022) and launched the country's first consumer embodied AI retail store (Nanjing Deji, 2024). In May 2026, Weilan launched BabyAlpha A3, a next-generation consumer quadruped featuring a self-developed WEILAN Hybrid X1.0 heterogeneous computing cluster using 6 domestic chips (22 CPU cores) that runs a 7B parameter LLM on-device at 280 tokens/sec — at one-tenth the cost of an NVIDIA Jetson Thor. The company's strategy follows a "quadruped-first, humanoid-next" roadmap, using real-world home data collected from its deployed robots to train embodied AI models. The founder Liu Weichao won the RoboCup humanoid robot international championship three times consecutively (2009-2011) and holds a master's degree in AI & Robotics from the University of Bonn.
